For the "techy"
problems we have a Tech Support Group that can re-format hard drives, install
modems and CD-ROM's and all those things. These are good folks to call when the
operating system goes out of whack, the system won't boot up, the browser quits
on you or something like that. They work out of the Club's Computer Repair
Center, located in the same building and adjacent to the HCC Classroom.
The Repair Center is open every Monday, except holidays, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Their telephone number in the Repair Center is (252)586-9919. If the problem can't be
solved by the Support Group they will refer you to a professional technician.
You may contact Gus Best, Jay McNelly, Bob Kurtz or Paul Bernard to make arrangements for you to bring your computer to the Repair Center. They may even be able to help you over the phone or give an advance estimate of what the problem is before bringing it in.
Members should keep in mind that the folks working in the Repair Center are not computer professionals. They are just members who have some experience in computer repair and are willing to help. There are no guarantees, of course, and members avail themselves of this help at their own risk.
