When LGCC was organized one of its stated purposes was "to initiate and conduct computer related projects and activities of an educational and charitable nature in support of community interest in the Lake Gaston area."  The Community Service Committee is responsible for guiding the club to the fulfillment of this purpose.

• We have responded to requests from local governments, schools, nonprofit organizations and churches for computer related help and education.
   

• We have also collected used computers, refurbished them and distributed them to senior shut-ins, financially needy youths, schools and other nonprofit community oriented organizations. Often the computers we supply can provide the means for a financially disadvantaged student to gain access to the internet, a person trying to gain skills in order to find employment and come off welfare or just provide entertainment for a shut-in.
   

• LGCC has established a scholarship for a worthy Halifax Community College student.
