Additional Educational opportunities for club members

Basic Computing Handbook

The Basic Computing Handbook is a Computer Club publication intended primarily for the newcomer to computing such as those persons who have recently acquired a computer and do not have a thorough knowledge of how to use it properly. It also serves as a reference document for infrequent users whose skills need refreshing from time to time. No previous experience with computers is assumed or required to use the handbook effectively. The handbook teaches the Windows 98 and Office 97 format. However, the transition to Windows XP and Office 2000 should be transparent after taking the course.

The Handbook is provided to members on floppy disk without charge. If you have not already received a floppy disk with the complete Handbook on it, you can get one at any of the Club Meetings.

Learning Library

The Club has two sets of the Gateway Learning Library series. Each set consists of several CD ROM disks that are used as self-help training aids for teaching some of the basic operations in a specific program. Each disk takes you through a step-by-step procedure where you actually perform the operations being taught.
A copy of the textbook used in the hands-on seminar classes, Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition EASY book published by QUE, is available for checkout.
Members may check out these disks for home study and learning. They are available at the Littleton Community Center. Call Marion Lewis at 586-6773 to reserve your disk, or they are available at any of the Club meetings.
